Moheshkhali Floating LNG (MLNG) is an essential element to secure the future provision of energy in the country. The terminal will cost an estimated $179.5m and feature a base-load capacity of 500 million standard cubic feet of gas a day (MMscf/d). Moheshkhali Floating LNG provides the desired clean energy to support power reliability, industrial development, and job creation in a sustainable manner.

Due to the project, the collaboration among Excelerate Energy, Petrobangla, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has happened to provide and arrange the required funding for the terminal. Excelerate Energy has developed and will operate the terminal for 15 years, after which the company will transfer ownership to Petrobangla allowing for continued realization of its benefits.

Petrobangla is authorized to import LNG from international gas markets through this new terminal and thus, increases the amount of natural gas supply in Bangladesh by approximately 20%. It also expands the sources of natural gas and provides our country with access to clean energy.
